This work might help enable vhost support for non-MSI guests
(required for linux 2.6.30 and back). It's not enough
for that though: we would also need level interrupt
support in irqfd. That might be doable by using
sockets for irqfd in a similar way.

I don't have an issue with socket mmio (it's a great feature once it's done well), just with presenting the serial port as motivation.
