A last go: select KPowersave in Synaptic (if you don't have Synaptic install it), right click, and install all the recommended and suggested.

It might be the kernel too, in whose case you'll have to wait for the next release of Ubuntu (or try to install the latest from kernel.org).


Thanks. I just installed KPowersave, and disabled Klaptop. I see that
KPowersave gives me the option of disabling the lock screen. However,
even with the lock screen disabled, my screen stays black (lit, but
black) when I resume.
