it looks likie the devel libs are there.
on fedora 1 386 i have no problem compiling kde apps, its only on fedora 1 x86-64 i have problems. there must be some trick to compile on x86-64. someone must know this

The correct prefix for RedHat *is*: "/usr".
If you tried that and you still get the error that it can't find the libraries, then the problem is probably that you haven't installed the 'devel' packages. Start with kdelibs-devel and kdebase-devel.
