It can't be that.
My environment variables (and ld.so.conf) are ok.
If not, there would be complaints about missing libraries, not individual symbols?

NO, it isn't fortunate. You can only have your system setup to use one install of KDE at a time. If you still have the environment variables and/or ld.so.conf setup to point to your 3.1 installation, then your 3.2.2 installation will not work.
