I also spotted a harmless bug in the VLV/CHV sprite code so I figured I'd include the fix for that one as well. And Chris+smatch found that my error handling was crap, so that too needs fixing. And just for kicks I tossed in a small cleanup for the gen2/3 DSPADDR calculation.
