Thanks Andrew, I like this approach and I can adopt it easily. I had stuck in my head that sync_client needed to be run as a child process of cyr_master, but it doesn't really: sync_client gets all its environment straight from imapd.conf, so there should be no issue wrapping it in a script and running it straight from, say, systemd.

I'll have a play and report back for posterity.
