I'm unable to authenticate with the server, using the original configuration. 

I recompiled cyrus, sasl2, saslauthd (FreeBSD) and installed them, but I re-used the original /usr partition on another drive, which contains the configurations, sasldb, et al.

It "should" just work.  But it's complaining.

The saslauthd is running with "-a pam" and the mechanisms are set in Sendmail.conf and smtpd.conf for pwcheck auxprop as was originally there and working.

I'm puzzled.
