300 messages ago on this thread, I suggested that maybe the RSE needed to be
an employee.  I went on to wonder if an academic institution was an
appropriate clerical mechanism to consider, and I think that point was seized
upon, rather than the fundamental point that you are making.

So I agree completely with you.
