The other reason why we better not be looking for another Jon Postel is that it isn't clear to me that Jon would have either been able to do the job as it is seen today or wanted to. Indeed, I fear that the current state of oversight by the present IAB and RSOC would make a comment Joyce Reynolds once made about how Jon would have reacted to some of the early turmoil in ICANN (both vis-a-vis the IANA role and more generally) applicable here too.
