I emphatically disagree.   Why should IETF entrust the editing of its work product to someone who might not understand IETF's mission or share its values?

I submit that there are other ways to come to share the values of the Internet community than to publish RFCs...

To me the perspective of a standards author (especially if also an implementor) seems fairly unique.   Even people who broadly support IETF's goals don't always properly understand its perspective.
