If attendance to meetings are mandatory, why not make them a formal requirement? (*) Otherwise, this gets tricky for nomcom members, since you are required to do something that's not formally a requirement. And becausethis is not formally a requirement, it may be also harder to get funding for nomcom member to attend such meetings. OTOH, if they are not a formal requirement, why not mae remote participation tools do the trick? (*) By no means I'm proposing that this becomes a requirement. Actually, quite the opposite.
