The analytics will describe how the web-site is used today.  For example:
** overall number of visitors;
** views per webpage;
** time spent on pages;
** traffic sources; and
** aggregated visitor profiles
** visitors’ paths through the site

These metrics would not directly answer an incremental change vs. complete redesign question.  However, they will provide accurate and rich usage data that should be the input into decision process on how improve the effectiveness of the site.
