The up-to-date term of art is “middleperson attack” (oh my, Janus attack would have been so much better).
It’s even a syllable shorter.  I have noticed people often can be seen smirking slightly when they say this.

Just in case people don’t know, I’m (very mildly) offended if someone calls me (or any other human) a “person”, except of course for those who are just that.
(There is a bit more cultural background involved here than I would want to discuss on this list.)
Now deal with that :-)
