The Internet isn't for everyone anymore, at least not in the same sense.   It's for spying on everyone for the benefit of the few.  It's also for spreading conspiracy and for dividing people politically, in order to give those in power more control.

The Internet is sometimes perceived as a communication medium to interfere in national affairs.

Nations are sometimes perceived as interfering in ordinary people's ability to live and function.

The Internet is for empowering everyone.

What is the meaning of "empowering" in the above?

What kind of empowerment would you like everyone to have?   I personally favor freedom of speech, freedom of association, freedom to expose and dismantle structures of oppression.

To this end, ISOC needs to explicitly make privacy, freedom of _expression_, and authenticity of information part of its mission.

There are already advocacy organizations working in those areas.

Do they have monopolies or something?
