1. I'm planning on testing this with fetchmail, which is a command line
POP/IMAP/etc. client.  I'd like to minimize the load that I impose on
your side and on the bandwidth that I chew up, so could you point me
to a mailbox that's (relatively) small?

2. Mailman stores list traffic in standard Unix mbox format.  I think
it would make sense to export those mboxes (via rsync) on a daily basis
to somewhere where they can be accessed via either https or rsync.
(Why?  Because that way someone attempting to retrieve an entire archive
doesn't need to do so one message at a time.  And anyone trying to
maintain their own local archive can just update it periodically by
re-rsync'ing.)
