manner of other technology.

all sorts of things; sometimes it's things I believe; sometimes it turns
out that the "proof" is itself hugely controversial.

Fortunately the majority of criminals are not so smart, and fundamentally
that is the edge that makes law enforcement possible. A Google search will
produce many examples, for example the bank robber that confessed on
youtube, or the motorcyclist that posted video proof that he could ride a bike
at 148mph in a 70 limit.

So whilst the clever criminals may avoid escrow, most would use whatever
communications technology they were provided with, and of course the
clever ones may well accidentally stray into escrow enough of the time
to make them vulnerable.
