FWIW, I did IETF-91 remote. It was far better than I expected
and by far the worst problems with current remote participation
tooling were the timezone difference and the lack of fun, neither
of which are meetecho issues. (That's assuming that remote audio-in
is a research topic and hence not fairly considered a "problem"
with today's meetecho solution.)

That said, playing about with options for camera control would
be a fine thing to do. As would continued attempts to see if we
can improve the audio-in. I'm sure both will end up as solved
problems after we've played about with 'em for a (maybe long)
while.
