But we must get off the idea that document review is the whole of the AD load. I
think it is only around 15-20%. Maybe that rises with pursuit of Discusses
(moral: don't raise Discusses). That doesn't mean that other parts of the load
couldn't be shifted.
I meant to add that the number of WGs managed would be cut in
half too -- that seems easier than splitting reviews. The number of ADs
has not really scaled to the number of WGs in recent years. I would
rather try adding ADs than shutting down WGs.
IMO it is an implementation detail how the IETG divides its work.
I agree with Brian that just delegating the undesrable work
to an assistant volunteer is not a real plan. But if NOMCOM thinks there
is a critical shortage of IESG candidates, then the IESG better fix it,
or perhaps the NOMCOM should mandate a solution.
