Unfortunately, we've been doing that for many years, e.g. by forcing speakers to queue up at the microphones, and by arranging seating so that it's difficult to get to the microphones unless you're seated near an aisle. If you actually think you might want to speak at a f2f meeting, you need to show up early (forgoing any potentially valuable hallway conversations) and get a seat near an aisle.
