Also, the style of the slides makes a difference.

I was originally taught to produce very cryptic slides that have only a few key words per bullet. These work well as a visual reference for a native-language audience with a speaker providing the actual content.

For English as a second language audiences, a more verbose form is more helpful. The trick, of course, is to still be relatively terse. So, whole readable thoughts, but not extended prose.

This also helps when the slides are circulated without the speaker...
