 The concept works only as long as very few individuals try to get an
 unfair advantage over the rest.  But it definitely is doomed if
 EVERYONE, or even a larger number of people would practice this.

Perhaps signaling a lane change by alternately flash both left and right turn signals might be more analogous. After all, in most cases, only one session will be active. Would you rather see access to web pages wait for IPv6 attempts to timeout before IPv4 alternatives are tried?
