It might be helpful to avoid responses of the form "At least the Chinese will be able to attend, whereas they couldn't get visas into the U.S." or "Yeah? Well, the U.S. has human rights problems, too!" This is not a competition between the U.S. and China. There are two hundred other countries where international conferences can be held.
