You can pay for all sorts of things with WeChat (sometimes the only way!),
but the problem is getting money in, since many countries forbid their banks
from dealing.   On my last trip, I wound up handing cash to a local who
transfered some money to my WeChat.  That's probably forbidden.

 
I'm still unclear which city is being considered: Shengzhen?  Or Beijing.

I think it is Shenzhen  (correct spelling).
