You can now use AliPay in China (also WeChat, I think) with a Western credit card as funding method. Up to a certain total transaction amount (I think something like 1500€) you can use it without uploading an ID. Last April in Beijing it worked in most places (metro, museums, small shops) even if I did not have connectivity and was offline, though at a restaurant it wanted to verify my password so I had to ask them for wifi. The app is a bit confusing as it will sometimes revert to Chinese, but it's mostly translated in many Western languages and has a handy "translate" button when it's not, though that requires connectivity.
