I politely disagree. What they do is to highlight when people send voluminous quantities of emails to the mailing list, and sometimes this will cause these same people to think twice before emailing. For this reason, the script seems reasonable enough to me.
Maybe people who regularly find themselves at the top of this list could remember that it is often possible to say more by saying less.
