it’s completely unacceptable to keep making claims that our organizational code of conduct and the resulting — community-originated and community-run! — moderation procedures have been or are being used to suppress technical opinions or contributions, or that anyone “in power” is out to ruin people’s careers or reputation.

If you believe this has happened or is happening, then please provide some pointers for me or - if you distrust me and or the current IESG - a recall committee, so that the community can take corrective action if warranted.

Thanks,
Lars

No mention of hats but the IETF chair just told someone their behavior
on the IETF list is "completely unacceptable." Talk about a chilling
effect! You have unintentionally proven his point Lars.

You know, one thing that no one has mentioned in this entire thread is
to just ignore the poster. If someone says "those people are stupid" you
can just ignore him or her. If someone is repeating himself, or herself,
ad nauseum you don't need to respond to each and every email. Eventually
a "ok, you've made your point" and then just don't respond. If people feel
that no one is listening they generally stop talking. (And yes, I've been
on several reply-all email explosions but those are usually by neophytes
who replay-all and say "stop replying to all!" but if you look at this
thread it's been the same handful of people perpetuating it).

I agree with Keith on this by the way. The IETF has severely over-corrected
in its effort to be nice and tolerant.

And if you disagree, feel free to ignore me :-)

  Dan.
