Mary - you’re exactly correct.  It was the 2006 meeting in Dallas where we were in danger of flooding out.  At least a few people had to wade in from their taxis to get to the entrance.  One or two took rooms at safer hotels for the night to wait for the waters to recede.  The rest of the week was less fraught.

I don't think that was IETF-34 in Dallas unless the flooding happened more than once.   It was IETF-65.  I remember distinctly since I was driving down from my house North of Dallas and was planning to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn next door so I could have a fridge in my room.  But, I couldn't get there due to the flooding.  The Anatole was able to give me a room after I explained the situation and when they asked why I had chosen the HGI initially, I said it was because of the fridge.  So, they delivered one to my room free of charge ;)

And, the plenary proceedings mention the rain in the NOC: https://www.ietf.org/proceedings/65/

I was trying to remember the hotel we were at for the first IETF in Dallas.  Similar to current events, the Trinity river was out of its banks and was within an inch or so of level from flooding the electrical pad for the hotel.  I thought perhaps the old proceedings might have some details. Imagine my surprise when none of the links worked.

I haven’t looked at other old proceedings, but my guess is that they may be in no better shape.
