I don't think that was IETF-34 in Dallas unless the flooding happened more than once. It was IETF-65.
You're right. What I remember from 34 was that after a hot week (for December), there was light snow falling during my taxi ride back to the airport on Saturday. At 65, I remember that the IESG/IAB meeting room was downstairs from the lobby, and we had to abandon our meetings on Sunday afternoon when the water got a couple of centimetres deep. Brian
I remember distinctly since I was driving down from my house North of Dallas and was planning to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn next door so I could have a fridge in my room. But, I couldn't get there due to the flooding. The Anatole was able to give me a room after I explained the situation and when they asked why I had chosen the HGI initially, I said it was because of the fridge. So, they delivered one to my room free of charge ;) And, the plenary proceedings mention the rain in the NOC: https://www.ietf.org/proceedings/65/ <https://www.ietf.org/proceedings/65/> Mary On Mon, Aug 22, 2022 at 11:37 PM Mike StJohns <mstjohns@xxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:mstjohns@xxxxxxxxxxx>> wrote: https://www.ietf.org/proceedings/34/ <https://www.ietf.org/proceedings/34/> I was trying to remember the hotel we were at for the first IETF in Dallas. Similar to current events, the Trinity river was out of its banks and was within an inch or so of level from flooding the electrical pad for the hotel. I thought perhaps the old proceedings might have some details. Imagine my surprise when none of the links worked. I haven’t looked at other old proceedings, but my guess is that they may be in no better shape. Mike Sent from my iPad
