My experience as well. I lost count of how many times I had the 
following conversation :

C: But MPLS gives me encryption!
Me: Err, nope.
C: Oh? But that is what Vendor X and provider Y told me?
Me: Have you looked at the technology?
C: No....

Re-iterate.

I have had the same discussion with C replaced with provides. That is 
when I got scared.
