an internet draft filename that contains the string "esmtp" is a pretty 
good clue.

and remember that i-d's are announced, including their abstracts.  the 
abstract for the current specification is pretty straightforward.

ps.  to the extent that you perceive a larger, IETF-wide coordination 
issue, i suspect you will get agreement from many people.  the hard part is 
in proposing a solution that those people will also agree with.
