I tried to install Debian Jessie and clone latest linus's git tree then reuse debian's config file of /boot to compile 3.14 kernel. The brightness works good at my side.7That is interesting, I use the linux image the is a product of a local kernel build, but from the 3.14rc7 tag.
I try to use debian build tools and uses source from : http://packages.qa.debian.org/l/linux.html
The problem is, that they have not released an experimental 3.14 kernel yet, i hope they will do that soon.
So either have the problem been fixed between 3.14rc7 and 3.14 mainstream, or one of the debian patched are doing more damage than good in the Debian kernel build.
Thanks for trying, this is valuable information. Could you post you full thinkpad_acpi.c patch against 3.14, that would be a big help ? If 3.14 is not entering debian soon I think I will try to make a package myself, but I will try to see what happens during the weekend :-)
Hmm I have submitted three patches. One is acked. Other two are pending. There are few patches will be submitted after internal review and verify. I don't have so call 'full' patch actually.
