        Hi Bo,

        Can you post your .config?

But of cause :-) please note that this is the default for Debian
Jessie (3.14rc7 amd64), I have not changed anything.

Interesting. I encountered a similar issue on a Lenovo laptop and has been fixed by the patch which mentioned
in http://marc.info/?l=linux-acpi&m=137568804802772&w=2. So I thought latest vanilla kernel tree should contains the patch.
While looking at the latest 3.14 kernel release (just released yesterday), it looks like something like it are present :

https://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/tree/drivers/gpu/drm/i915/intel_panel.c?id=refs/tags/v3.14#n513

It seems like they just added other max values, but basically it looks like it is there ?

I tried to install Debian Jessie and clone latest linus's git tree then reuse debian's config file of /boot to compile 3.14 kernel. The brightness works good at my side.

            Hi ...

Now that my X1C are working I am quite happy about it, and
        now I
            am looking at the details.

            When I boot the laptop (Debian Jessie + 3.14rc7 + Shuduo's
        patch)
I end up in a blank screen, the only way to get anywhere is to
suspend it and resume, and then i have a beautiful login
        screen,
and the laptop works nicely until next reboot.

In the dmesg i get the following remarks :

            [    1.605320] thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad BIOS GRET32WW (1.09
        ), EC
            unknown

[    1.607142] thinkpad_acpi: unknown version of the HKEY
            interface: 0x200
            [    1.607198] thinkpad_acpi: please report this to

            <mailto:ibm-acpi-devel@lists.sourceforge.net

        <mailto:ibm-acpi-devel@lists.sourceforge.net>>

I know the HKEY problem is worked on, but could the
        "brightness
interface" problem be related to the blank screen after
        boot problem ?
