No extra support for the SL-series was added to thinkpad-acpi. What
happened is that Lenovo added known ThinkPad firmware APIs to the
SL-series firmware, and the driver started working on limited mode on SL
thinkpads with the newer firmware.

So, if your SL-500 is not using the latest firmware, try to upgrade it.
It might help.

That looks like an SL firmware *without* the APIs thinkpad-acpi uses, so
it won't work. Either update to a firmware which has those APIs (if one
is available), or you'll have to use a different driver.
