Hi devs, I have Lenovo ThinkPad SL500 laptop (model 2746F2G). From ThinkWiki and other resources I learn that SL series is not real ThinkPad and has hybrid IdeaPad firmware, so thinkpad_acpi and tp_smapi modules don't work with it. Instead users should use unofficial driver lenovo-sl-laptop [0]. But this project is dead now, and author don't reply to emails. In 2009 in module asus-laptop was added limited support for SL series [1], but it works only with some SL models and miss many functions. Few days ago I found this thread [2] in mailing list, seems thinkpad_acpi now has experimental SL series support. I tried to load thinkpad_acpi module on my laptop and get next output in /var/log/messages thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad ACPI Extras v0.24 thinkpad_acpi: http://ibm-acpi.sf.net/ thinkpad_acpi: ThinkPad BIOS 6AET58WW, EC unknown thinkpad_acpi: Lenovo ThinkPad SL, model 2746F2G thinkpad_acpi: detected a 8-level brightness capable ThinkPad but module fails to load with "Error inserting thinkpad_acpi: Input/output error". I'm running Slackware 13.37 with default 2.6.37.6-smp kernel. Any chance to get support for SL500 (2746F2G) in thinkpad_acpi? If necessary I can provide any additional information (DSDT, DMI) and run tests.
