That's per BIOS design.  The video event is an active event, that X.org will
react to, etc.

The HKEY 5010 event is Lenovo's "hey OSD application, this is a hint that
the brightness changed, please notify the user" thing.  It was added on the
*60.   I am not aware of anything paying attention to that event, but
thinkpad-acpi exports it in any case.
