I can report that OSDL has hired some interns, and one month (June) of one intern's time has been assigned to the the hotplug memory regression test effort. Meantime, when I can find the time, I will be researching a method that we can use from user-space to tell if new memory added can actually be used. Essentially I need ways to force the new added physical memory to _be used, and then check that it _has been used.
