I favor the boxy look, so there isn't much to scale (as opposed to Blueshell, which uses a bunch of images). What's the favored way to "fake" a HiDPI monitor? This is why I am scratching my own itch. In fact, given the name "Adwaita", meaning "the only one", I'm pretty sure that some of the developers don't care about custom themes. That would explain why the theming API changed so drastically and frequently. Adwaita is written in a CSS preprocessor (SCSS). https://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/tree/gtk/theme/Adwaita It is a very complicated bit of work. In my opinion, if you need a preprocessor for something like CSS, your CSS is probably too complicated, and you are doing something wrong.
