It's all well and good that everybody has their own builds, and

While people doing their own builds is great, I'm still going to ask
for one thing: please, help out setting up an automated builder that
takes the GTK git repository and builds it with the Windows backend.

As an aside... whatever happened to Microsoft's interest in all this??

Around 2 years ago a guy from MS visited this list to let us know about their CoApp project. From what I can remember, they were getting worried about the number of people building the GTK stack for Windows. They didn't have anything against GTK. What worried them was that all these competing builds would end up bringing back "DLL Hell" which MS itself has worked very hard to get rid of! The proposal was to have one official source for Gtk-Win which would be hosted by MS (and delivered by some kind of app that would be similar to apt-get). They were planning to use a distribution based on the existing HexChat repos. The initial conversations involved me, Arnavion, Tarnyko and a few others - but it soon went very quiet.

Anyone know if it's still ongoing?
