Are you talking of dynamically adding pointer devices ?
Well, what about simply starting the server w/ multiple inputs
and let them idle until some device is connected ?

BTW: that's one of the features which will come w/ the new
9P-based gpm-ng (when I've got some time to actually code it),
see the archive for more info ...
