Hello,
I assist K-12
schools in setting up their IP video conferencing endpoints. We have run into
issues with some commercial and even Linux firewalls not properly handling H323
traffic. The goal is for the endpoints to be able to be moved from room to room
so NATing it pretty much a necessity. I recently discovered the GNU Gatekeeper
project and wondered if it would provide a means of setting up a single point
(on a public IP)where all VC endpoints could bypass the firewall? I know that
the Polycom V2IU works this way. Is the GNU GK very similar?
One other question I
have is can the GNU GK be paired to another gatekeeper without routing all its
traffic (data AND signaling) through the paired gatekeeper? We have a statewide
gatekeeper that we would want to pair to the local gatekeeper to resolve "phone
numbers" but the statewide GK only supports signal routing.
Thank
you!
Andrew
