I guess mysql has some built-in string manipulation functions. In PostgreSQL we have stored procedures, when we can do advanced processing.

Thank you! You are right, it does work, but now I
need to incorporate my logic, and have a little bit of
trouble. I want to check the e164 of the registering
unit for existence in the database, but there is not
much I can do with the %{aliases} variable, as it is a
comma-separated list. I would have to quote every
single entry in it to stick it in a query. And check
if any of the entries there exist in my database. As
it is, all I have is a string blob. How do I check
for the e164 (dialeddigits)?
