Maybe you're using an old H.323v1 endpoint? Sending a full trace (level 5) could show some more information.
You should also rather use 123 for prefix, not 888 as GWRewrite takes place after gateway match is performed.

i have gw1 for inbound with prefix 123 then i have gw2 also for outbound with prefix 888 so i config on gnugk like this
[RasSrv::GWRewriteE164] gw1=in=123=888 ( outbound ) [RasSrv::GWPrefixes] gw2=888 [RasSrv::PermanentEndpoints] 192.168.100.2=gw2;888 ( for outbound )
