I suspect that some combination of Telephony service, ICS, and ICF / Windows Firewall is causing your trouble. If you can boot up a Linux partition, I think you will find that gnugk runs fine. If it is not practical for you to use Linux, BSD, etc. for your gateway, try to determine what is not working in Windows: You can easily test with the firewall disabled. Before doing so, of course, make sure that you have all security updates installed, and disable file and print sharing, and any other services that you don't want to be accessed from outside. You can use "netstat -o -a" to see what ports are open and what processes are listening on them. If it works with the firewall off, it may just be the audio packets being blocked. Try setting RTPPortRange to a few ports and opening those UDP ports in the firewall. If not, try a test with ICS and Telephony also disabled. When you turn off ICS, the settings for your LAN interface may be reset. If so, manually configure it for a 192.168.0.1 static IP. Then, after a reboot, Telephony should not be running. If it is, stop it manually. Of course, in this test setup, the other hosts on your LAN won't be able to access the Internet, but your IP phone and your friend's endpoint should be able to register with gnugk, and I believe that calls should be possible. If not, try adding NetworkInterfaces=192.168.0.1/24,61.93.xx.xx/xx. If it still doesn't work, you should run Ethereal on both interfaces to see why the proxy isn't doing its job. If gnugk runs ok when ICS, etc. is disabled, you have several options: 1. Use an inexpensive hardware router for NAT. Choose one that allows you to forward required port ranges to gnugk. 2. Use a third-party NAT software, instead of ICS. 3. If your other hosts only need to access the Internet for Web and email (and VoIP), you could use an application proxy instead of NAT. 4. Find out precisely what fails when ICS is enabled. There may be a workaround in the configuration, or with a patch to the source. > Once I downloaded the the GNUGK, I modified a little bit in proxy.ini(just > change the network address of my NATed subnet)in the folder "etc". I don't have a Planet IP phone, but do use some of their gateways. Those have a bug (feature?) that causes the ringback to continue to play, until audio packets are received from the destination, when fast start is not used. > For inbound call, I pick up the phone, and it seems it is connected.
