what do you mean "static versions of system libraries"? how would i do a mandrake OS install to have those? mandrake is my distro of choice.

Mandrake 9.2 + AMD Duron
RedHat 7.3 + Dual Intel Pentium III 1133
SuSE 8.2 + Dual Xeon 2.8GHz
and similar (for compilation you need a special
machine with static versions of system libraries installed).

... and the winner is... UltraSPARCs running Solaris 8
- these are my favourite ones:)
