I am running GK 2.0.7 (static compiled) in proxy mode on a P4 2.0 Ghz, 512MB RAM, 2 x 7200RPM IDE disks software RAID1 and Intel 82559 ethernet card with CPU cycle saver mode turned on, stock Redhat 9.0. At about 10 G.723 concurrent calls, vmstat showed:

Load average was 0.15. At this condition, calls started to get choppy and crackling. Voice quality is acceptable at load averages < 0.10. Bandwidth is not an issue as testing was conducted locally. Are there any tuning tips to improve the performance of GNUGK in proxy mode and the voice quality?
TIA.
