Re: something to think about

Craig,

Thank you for exposing your knowledge. I was one of the people that have been asking NAT related questions last week. I'm an electrical engineer/software designer and I have been working with VoIP (Cisco, Cirilium, Quicknet) for the past year and a half, so I can say I'm not an ignorant in the field.
Until now I could not make the gnugk work properly with NAT boxes (in many different scenarions such as gnugk behind NAT, ATAs behind NAT, etc...).
So if anyone has config files/info on those scenarios, please post.
Regards,
Andrew

To all,

One thing that I feel is missing from both the GnuGK and the OpenH323
sites is some links to short, understandable explanations of the terms
and concepts that we experienced users throw around all of the time.

For example, I have explained to several people this week that a
Gatekeeper does not have to do NAT translation - it's just that some
gatekeepers like GnuGK combine the functions of both gatekeeper and
proxy.

If anyone is interested, I have written a short summary of some of the
common H.323 terms in my blog at http://users.tpg.com.au/adsl87w7/blog/
Another useful site with some nice pictures can be found at
http://www.packetizer.com/iptel/h323/papers/primer/, with lots of
additional information at http://www.packetizer.com/iptel/h323
