Subject: Some newbie questions

Hello,

I have some newbie (probably) questions:

1. with which version of pwlib/openh323 gives gnugk the best
stability, performance? What do you recommend?

It has been discussed - PWLib 1.5.2 and OpenH323 1.12.2 give some problem
at compilation.
So use version 1.5.0 and 1.12.0 or download version 1.5.3 and 1.12.3

2. in gatekeeper routed mode how much open TCP sockets are used per
channel? it should limit the maximum number of calls, am I right?

This is a classic H323 - read RFC or H323 books.

3. if I want to send calls to my system from a not registered endpoint
(e.g. Cisco), do I need to run in Proxy mode? I would like to use
gatekeeper only to route calls, not bring RTP through gatekeeper. Is
it possible?

You can transfer all calls in a both modes

4. Can I authenticate calls (from unregistered EPs) by IP and H323ID?

The best way to use all of Auth possibilities - use RAdius authorization
and accounting:
install Radius (Freeradius 0.9.1)with MySQL (or PostgresSQL) and you will
have immediatelly
	basic VoIP provider starter kit.
	:-)
