I use Fedora 12. Many people are having the same kinds of problems with TigerVNC crashing. ABRT has reported VNCserver etc. as a crash for me and since then about 20 other people have added their names to the list with the same problem. Since you are having problems in Debian, I guess it means that the bug is up stream from the distribution.
