Hi John, It doesn't seem feasible from a performance perspective to construct complex compositing graphs from scratch all the time. For example, can caches be reused between VIPS pipeline setups? Another thing that makes VIPS less attractive is that it is not designed using an object oriented approach but is instead written in a functional/procedural manner. I have looked briefly at the code a while ago and my first impression was that VIPS will hard to extend and adapt to GIMP needs.
