Obviously sliders would be more intuitive when you get further on , a contrast change of 2.25 does not have any meaning to most people.
The user interface presented there is a very simple and naive representation of the parameters of the operation itself, if custom GUI's were available for the operations they would probably be used instead, for most of these things, integrating the user interaction in the view itself would probably also be beneficial. Popups like this are quite annoying if they can be avoided.
It's probably only of use in being able to log a numerical value for future reference, documenting what was done or repeating with the same parameters later. That is to say it's worth having numerical input but is slider is more relevant most of the time.
Well for brightness/contrast for instance, I think something like the "curves" like UI provided at http://pippin.gimp.org/bauxite/old_screenshots/2004-06-15.png combined with entries would probably be superior to just separate sliders for brightness/contrast.
Could you briefly outline how you capture the sequence of events and prepare the gif amin. , it's a very good way to present things sometimes.
Byzanz, http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php?soft_id=1261 , is used to capture from the screen to a gif animation. /Øyvind K. -- «The future is already here.
